Have you ever wondered why our fingernails grow faster than out toenails?
* Normally, the average severed fingernail takes 4 to 6 months to grow back to its usual length while the the average toenail takes about 9 to 12 months. One explanation says that since we use our fingers more than our toes, our toenails do not get as much stimulation our fingernails. Also, circulation is much slower in the feet than in the hands. Another explanation is the fact that fingernails are in constant contact with many hard or sharp objects. This being so fingernails are much more likely to be traumatized in our everyday activities - and studies show that trauma makes nails grow faster.
