A graduate of the Adventist University of the Philippines topped the 29,711 passers out of the 84,287 nursing graduates who took the Nurse Licensure examination given in Manila and 17 other cities in December 2010, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Friday. The December 2010 exam’s passing rate is pegged at 35.26 percent, lower than the 41.4-percent passing rate registered in the previous exam in July 2010.
Tied at fourth place are Vanessa Elumbaring of Saint Mary’s College – Tagum and Kimberly Malubago of Southern Luzon State University – Lucban.
Coming in at fifth place is Jessa Lorraine Andalan of Xavier University.
Completing the top ten were 22 other topnotchers with tied scores.
Meanwhile, Saint Paul University once again topped the list of best performing schools with a 100-percent passing rate, followed by Xavier University (98.48), Saint Paul University – Tuguegarao (98.45), New Era University (98.04), and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (97.45).
The Board of Nursing (BON) administered the exam on December 19 and 20 last year in Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Ilocos Sur, Iloilo, La Union, Legazpi, Lucena, Nueva Ecija, Pagadian, Pampanga, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga last December 2010 .
The PRC said the scores of two examinees were withheld pending final determination of their liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examination.
The members of the BON are Carmencita Abaquin as chairperson, and members Leonila Faire, Betty Merritt, Perla Po, Marco Antonio Sto. Tomas, Yolanda Arugay and Amelia Rosales.
In a statement, the PRC said the examination results of five examinees will be withheld until the PRC determines their "liabilities" under the rules and regulations governing the licensure examination.
The examinees who successfully passed the board exams should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.
They are required to bring the following:
• a duly accomplished oath form or "Panunumpa ng Propesyonal"
• current community tax certificate (cedula)
* 2 pieces passport-size pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag)
• 1 piece 1" x 1" picture (colored with white background and complete name tag)
• 2 sets of metered documentary stamps
• 1 short brown envelope with name and profession indicated on it
They will also pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2011-2014.
Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals, according to the PRC.
The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in Manila, as well as the previous passers who have not taken their Oath of Professional, will be held before the Board on Monday and Tuesday, March 14 and 15, 2011, with morning (8:00 a.m.) and afternoon (1:00 p.m.) sessions at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
Passers must come in their white gala uniform, nurse’s cap, white duty shoes, without earrings and corsage, and with their hair not touching the collar.
Oath-taking tickets for the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby regions will be available at the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) on F.T. Benitez Street in Malate, Manila, from February 28, 2011 on a “first come, first served" basis.
